DENVER-The No. 2 seed Omaha Mavericks will face the No. 3 seed Purdue Fort Wayne Mastodons in the Summit League semifinals today at 4 p.m. MT/ 5 p.m. CST. The Mavericks closed out their regular season last Saturday with a 1-0 victory over the No. 4 seed Eastern Illinois Panthers at Caniglia Field. Freshman Martin Veys scored the game’s lone goal off an assist from sophomore Diego Gutierrez.
Omaha defeated Purdue Fort Wayne 4-1 on September 29 in Fort Wayne, Indiana. This is the first ever meeting between two programs in the postseason. The winner of this match will face the winner of the other semifinal between Eastern Illinois and No. 1 seed Denver Pioneers.
