It’s taken eight years to gain steam, but College Radio Day now boasts more than 200 station participants across the nation and four here in Nebraska. The day serves as a reminder that college radio is the power responsible for the professional storytellers, musicians and entertainers. Rock and Roll Hall of Fame artists Kenny Laguna and Joan Jett served as the 2018 Ambassadors pointing out the necessity of this unique medium in launching new artists as an outlet for their singles, EPs and albums. At UNO, the staff of MavRadio.FM used the day to showcase local and regional talent. “The campus has a hunger for our form of communication. We give students the opportunity to contribute value to our music, production, news and sports play-by-play,” said Jodeane Brownlee, faculty adviser.
